Lakshadweep, the enchanting group of islands is a Union Teritory of India and it is the only coral islands of India. It consists of 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. The islands are largely low levelled and rise to a height of a few metres above sea level. Coconut is the only crop of economic importance. Oceanic birds are found in the uninhabited islands. Coral fish such as parrot fish are found in abundance.
Like the Maldives the activities at Bangaram Island are centered around watersports including scuba diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing and kayaking. Bangaram is a breathtaking spectacle of coral reefs, turquoise lagoons, fabulous unspoilt beaches and lush green coconut palms.....all preserved as they were hundreds of years ago with no signs of the interference on man.
To get to Bangaram, you will need to fly from Cochin to Agatti followed by a 90 minute boat trip. Get here quick before everybody else discovers one of the best getaway locations this world has to offer. Best time to visit is November to March.
