The resort is in a superb location of 25 acres of coconut palms which lead down to vast expanses of Indian Ocean beach. Only recently opened it is built in the style of a traditional fishing village with thatched villas in keeping with the local style. The villas are all air-conditioned and incorporate modern open air bathrooms but in traditional Kerala style, complete with banana tree.
The village of Mararikulam is tucked away behind the dense palms. The coconut palm is used for everything from roofing material to kitchen ladles to boat hulls. Visit the village and you will frequently see rough coir mats with famous red chilis drying out.
Marari Beach only has 52 cottages and these are separated from the sea by a windbreak of palms. These are set in beautifully maintained gardens including lotus ponds and associated ducklings.
Like all CGH Earth properties the emphasis is on taking care of the environment. Just across the road from the resort is its own waste recycling plant which ensures no effluents pollute the local area and manure goes into the organic farm which produces vegetables and fruit for the resort.
The staff at Marari are friendly and attentive and always ready to help. Add this to a resort with great features and surroundings and you have the antedote to todays rat race. If you stay for at least a week and take advantage of some the treatments available at the Ayurveda Centre you are sure to leave a different person to the one that arrived.
